Details:
Dr. Terry Baylor, Shippensburg University of PA math professor will
conduct an all-day workshop for the 6th – 8th grade math teachers
in the district. Dr. Baylor will address the new Harrisburg math curriculum
as it relates to state standards.
In addition to sponsoring Dr. Baylor’s presentation, the PA State
GEAR UP grant is providing the following materials for middle level
classrooms:
- Advanced Math 24 Game Kit
- Overhead Math in Action Kit
- Geoboard Classroom Kit
- Dry-Erase marker kit
- TI-15 Exploring fractions calculators or TI-83 graphing calculators
- Calculator Teacher Kits, including storage caddies, teacher guides
and overhead demonstration calculators
All materials will be delivered to teachers on the day of the workshop.
Follow-up workshops/courses to continue supporting teachers with implementation
of new strategies and use of new materials will be discussed.
