Shippensburg University will host 7th grade students from Harrisburg School District to its Fall program, "Excitement in Education" on Saturday, December 4, 2004. Designed to introduce middle school students to a college atmosphere, the program is sponsored by the Shippensburg University Honors Program. Student volunteers will engage the 7th graders in classes focused on putting a creative spin on learning.
Providing academic enrichment and making opportunities for students to visit college campuses are two of PA State GEAR UP's goals. Students who attend will spend the day in academic activities and they will experience college life firsthand as they interact with university students, eat lunch in the student cafeteria, and tour the university campus.
