William Penn School 10th graders visited Thaddeus Stevens College
of Technology in Lancaster on September 27th as part of PA State GEAR
UP’s college visit program. Tour guide Charlie Sierer led the
students through the campus tour and answered questions about the college’s
curriculum and environment.
On September 28th, 10th graders from SciTech High School visited Elizabethtown
College for a similar campus tour. Students spent time in the communications
department and in the college’s radio station.
Before their visit and when they return to their schools, students
meet with GEAR UP staff to talk about college and focus on their own
educational goals. Other tenth-grade college visits currently scheduled
for this fall are as follows:
9/20: Career Technology Academy to Thaddeus Stevens
9/27: John Harris High School to Elizabethtown College
10/3: Career Technology Academy to Harrisburg Area Community College
10/4: John Harris High School to Penn State
10/5: John Harris High School to Penn State
10/27: John Harris High School to HACC
