Dates/Time:
February 21, 2004

Details:
Over 250 PA State GEAR UP students from Rowland School in the Harrisburg School District will visit Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania for a PA State GEAR UP-sponsored program. The 8th graders will take a campus tour and will participate in a "Reality Check" real-life financial simulation game.

Volunteer presenters are Shippensburg University students, faculty members and administrators, as well as PA State GEAR UP staff.

"Reality Check" is a hands-on, real-life financial simulation that gives young people the opportunity to look into the future in a fun and exciting way. In the real-life simulation, Rowland students will earn paychecks and spend money on housing, utilities, insurance, groceries, clothes, entertainment and cars!

Students will attend one of three sessions:

  • Session One: 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Session Two: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Session Three: 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Transportation will be provided by Harrisburg School District.
