Details:
The Summer Technology Institute program is designed to provide 7th and
8th grade youth a project oriented view of how using technology in small
workgroups can produce meaningful results. Students will gain an understanding
of basic computer operations, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
navigating the Internet, sentence structure, number expressions, reading
for comprehension, researching on the internet, doing cost-benefit analysis,
working in teams, problem solving, and creating and presenting power
point presentations in a fun and exciting two week session. Learning
will take place through an interactive and experimental approach to
learning that will require the student to work in teams and develop
team building and critical thinking skills.

Stephen Spence, Northwest Regional Office and certified literacy and
instructional technology teachers from Northwest Regional schools
